CHAPTER 2 – Relationship, Love and Sexuality
2.1 I will be doing my ‘O’ level exams in a few months. I have a tutor who is only a few years older than I am. He gives me lots of encouragement and support even in matters outside of my schoolwork. I think I’m falling in love with him.
2.2 I have known this girl who is my neighbour for over three years. We have a really good relationship, and we share a lot together. Should I tell her that I love her?
2.3 I have received a letter from a boy I’ve met only a few times. He says that he cares for me a lot, and that he thinks about me every minute of the day. Do you think he really loves me?
2.4 There is a boy in school who often asks me for help with his schoolwork. But he often doesn’t return my books until I’ve asked him many times, and I have found out that he sees me as a rival and says unkind things about me to the girls in our class.
2.5 I can feel our love for each other growing deeper each day. Will having sex help our love grow even stronger?
2.6 How can I show her that I care for her? How do I know that she also cares for me?
2.7 My uncle and aunt say that it was love at first sight for them. They have now been married for over ten years.
2.8 We were quite close to each other, once. As time passed, we drifted apart. He didn’t even want to answer my telephone calls then. Why did he do this to me, when I trusted him so much?
2.9 We quarrelled yesterday. On our date last night, I left her alone for just ten minutes to talk to an old friend I met. She got angry and said I didn’t care for her. I just don’t understand why she is upset over a small thing like this.
2.10 I’m a girl. I was so embarrassed and disgusted when I entered the room of a schoolmate of mine, who is male. There were pictures of scantily-clad girls pasted on the walls. I cannot imagine having pictures of nude men in my room!
2.11 He seems to have changed! We have been going out for the past three months, and he had always been a perfect gentleman. I allowed him to kiss me last week, and tonight he “tried to be funny with me”.
2.12 How far can we go? Is it all right to kiss?
2.13 Aren’t you being very old-fashioned and conservative when you say that we should not go beyond holding hands? After all, kissing is no big deal to teenagers these days!
